WORDS OF FOUNDER:
I view my self as someone who has ambition to
become an expert in community development. I developed this desire when
pursuing my undergraduate studies in sociology. The desire was proved
positively when working with the community for three years empowering them and
able to attain self-reliance within three years of program implementation.
These encouraged me and think forward to initiate
self-help group for vulnerable women specifically economic empowerment.
The group will secure opportunity for accessing
loans to run their income generating activities (IGA). The idea fall under
self-help group meaning that:
- Self help group will bring all targeted beneficiaries together sharing their life experience but mainly empowering themselves from what they earn through lending and savings.
- Group owned by members having leadership, registered constitution and bank account
As they belong in difficult life situation amount
for savings should be reasonable and affordable to members to save every week
and accessing loans with low interest. With my undergraduate studies, plus one
year dealing with self-help groups, I understand the relevance and value of
self-help groups on achieving sustainable development in the community as
mainly objectives are:-
- Self help groups for sustainable development through culture of lending and savings
- The poor living lonely lives steeped in poverty as separated individuals without being empowered.
- The need for the poor to start getting united on their own and struggle together
The idea
started to function practically on 20/11/2012,
